Preheat your air fryer to 375°F for about 3 minutes.
In a bowl, mix ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Shape mixture into 4 equal patties, pressing a slight dent in the middle of each to help them cook evenly.
Place patties in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Don’t stack them.
Cook for 7–9 minutes, flipping halfway through, until patties reach your desired doneness.
If adding cheese, place a slice on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
Toast buns lightly in the air fryer if you like, then assemble your burgers with your favorite toppings.
