Butter Swim Biscuits Easy Recipes You’ll Want Every Weekend

Ever had a biscuit so fluffy it nearly floats off your plate? That’s what we’re working with here. These butter swim biscuits are what weekend mornings were made for. They’re golden on the outside, steamy and tender on the inside, and you don’t even have to break a sweat to make ’em. I started making these on lazy Sundays when I didn’t feel like hauling out a mixer or dealing with cold butter cubes. Just stir, pour, bake, and you’ve got biscuits that make you feel like a Southern grandma—minus the apron and 6 a.m. wake-up call. If your idea of breakfast bliss includes something warm, buttery, and comforting, you’ve landed in the right kitchen. Perfect with a smear of jam, a drizzle of honey, or straight outta the pan. Let’s just say they’re less about formality, and more about feeding your biscuit cravings fast. Oh, and they go *shockingly* well with eggs and bacon. Let’s bake!

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 ¾ cups buttermilk
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Pour in the buttermilk and stir until just combined—don’t overmix.
  4. Melt the butter and pour it into an 8x8 baking dish.
  5. Spoon the dough right into the dish on top of the melted butter. Use a spatula to even it out a bit.
  6. Score the dough into 9 squares using a butter knife. It doesn’t need to be perfect.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the top is golden and the edges look crisp and buttery.
  8. Let cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
