Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment.
In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan. Add a few extra chips on top if you’re feeling fancy.
Bake for 25 minutes or until golden around the edges and just set in the center.
Cool in the pan before slicing. Try not to eat it all before serving.
