Spread cream cheese on 4 slices of bread.
Spread strawberry jam on the other 4 slices.
Press one cream cheese slice and one jam slice together to make 4 sandwiches.
Whisk the egg and milk in a shallow bowl.
Dip each sandwich in the egg mixture—coat both sides well.
Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
Fry sandwiches until golden brown on each side, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Remove and let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving if you’d like.
