Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8 ounces lo mein noodles (or spaghetti)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add garlic and ginger to the skillet. Stir and cook for 1–2 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch mixture.
  5. Pour sauce into the skillet with beef. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
  6. Add cooked noodles and sesame oil. Toss to coat evenly.
